Article Marketing - How Can You Benefit From Your Content

By Robert Thatcher

After spending some time on the internet, you have probably noticed that, everywhere you turn, you see articles. Article marketing has become one of the most popular methods of marketing on the internet today. What makes articles so great is that you can provide information about your products or services to get the word out about what you have to offer. The key to making article marketing work is making sure you have good, unique content.

The content of the article has to be relevant while offering the user information in an easy to read format and it must be completely unique. Copying other people’s work is not just bad practice, it is illegal if the copied material is copyrighted. It will not help you in any way for several reasons. The first reason is that article submission services will not accept copied articles, after so many submissions that are copied, you will be turned away from the service.

In other words, in order to make article marketing work for you, write articles that are informative, well written and are 100% unique. Articles can be great for writing reviews of your services or products.

When writing reviews you will want to keep a few things in mind. To write a good review that will keep the readers interest, you should follow these helpful tips:

1. Keep to the point. Do not fluff the information. Readers do not enjoy having to filter through all the fluff just to find the information you are really trying to tell them, they will immediately disregard your article and move on to something else.

2. Keep it truthful. Dishonesty is usually discovered right away. Make sure you are completely honest about the services or products you are offering this reader. If you do not offer a whole lot, but are looking to expand or upgrade, make sure you say so. Readers are so much more receptive to honesty.

3. Include as much information as you can about your product or service. Why they should look to you and why they should buy from you. Again, keep it straight and to the point.

4. Make sure it is well written, flows easily and is free from grammatical and spelling errors.

5. Be sure to include things such as price, where to find it, what the product or service can offer them and any special features.

After you have written your review, it is time to submit it to article directories. These directories work well in providing click-through traffic. In other words, when the reader has finished reading the article and you have piqued their interest, they can click on your link in the resource box and visit your website.

Article directories are also great for getting back links to your site, which many of us know is great for search engine rankings. In article directories, you can give other webmasters permission to publish your article on their website or blog.

The only stipulation is that they must keep the resource box intact. This means that when the webmaster publishes your article, they are providing you a back link from their site to yours that equals more traffic!

Robert Thatcher is a freelance author based in Cupertino, California. He publishes articles and reports in various ezines and contributes on a regular basis to MarketingAdvisories.com.

How To Start Affiliate Marketing Business

By Vlad Z

Affiliate marketing is becoming one of the most popular home based businesses in the United States. Some people dedicate their entire time to affiliate marketing, while others take this opportunity as an avenue for extra income. Affiliate business does not cost much to start so basically there is very little risk involved in becoming an affiliate.

What are the practical things to do in order to start your own affiliate businesses?

First of all you will need a website. To begin with you do not really need to own your personal website. You can start a free blog at Blogger or Wordpress. Not all affiliate programs require a web site in order for you to join. But most major affiliate networks do and the affiliate IDs from these networks are generally associated with your website. Down the road you will learn that it is good idea to have different websites dedicated to particular advertisers and even to particular products and services. But to begin with, you need only one web site. If you will be starting an affiliate business with a single website, it is good idea to create a website with your profile as an affiliate in it. Many advertisers will check your website before they let you into their program.

Second step is to join some of the major affiliate networks. While there are many companies that offer affiliate program independently, joining networks like Commission Junction or Link Share has its benefits.

You can choose from hundreds of leading companies, in fact you can actually actively promote products for hundred different companies at the same time. It is much easier to track your advertising efforts if you join affiliate network. All the data is aggregated, and you can see sales and payments from a single account.

It is not to say that independent affiliate programs are bad, in fact there are many good companies that offer affiliate programs via network and independently at the same time.

After you join an affiliate program, start creating websites and promote the products and services, and get paid in return. While this sounds easy, in reality it requires much of dedication and hard work.

This you can learn from people who have written about affiliate marketing, but be aware that some “gurus” of affiliate marketing may be just looking to get your money but give you nothing in return.

How to determine a good resource on Affiliate Marketing?

First of all you need to stay away from products and services that "promise" to make you "rich" overnight or promise to set you with a "magic" flow of cash. You will be better off to take a trip to Las Vegas and spend your money there, your odds to hit a jack pot there are much higher then becoming rich overnight with these programs and e-books.

There are some very good e-books, websites and blog on affiliate marketing. Good affiliate marketers will tell you that you need to dedicate time and effort in order to succeed. If they offer you anything for money make sure if their reputation, achievements and expertise are verifiable by third parties. Take a closer look at their blogs and websites to see how dedicated they are to protect your privacy. Many times good author will offer you a money back guarantee with no question asked.

Conclusion.

While affiliate marketing is very lucrative business, it is a business. As with any business you will need to dedicate your time and efforts in order to succeed.

Best Selling Affiliate Marketing Tips: Four Keys to More Commissions

By Paul Jerard

Let’s discuss four golden rules that will make sure you are a successful affiliate and will help you avoid getting “sidetracked.” Many of these principles have been “time tested,” by thousands of affiliate marketers, to measure exact results of affiliate campaigns on websites, Blogs, forums, and in Ezines.

Insert links that relate exactly to your content. Be very strategic when placing links within your text. Use affiliate links to guide your readers to seek more information about subjects that strike their interest.

Visualize your site and links to be a path for enthusiasts to enter. You can use this same principle when you design your Ezine. You have to make it interesting and your affiliate site, or Ezine does not need to have answers, but it does need to capture their interest.

Give visitors what they seek, but remember that the actual retailer must close the sale. It is not up to affiliates to close the sale for retailers. A good affiliate site will have interesting information for visitors, but does not need to focus on the sales process. If you read the retailers site, and it doesn’t convince you to opt-in for a newsletter or buy, you might want to consider another affiliate program.

Affiliates supply information that focuses on a specific niche, and this is what most “web surfers” are looking for. Your information must be exactly related to the product. For example: If we want to generate affiliate commissions for a tropical bird food product, we want to avoid posting information about pet food. Pet food is a large industry and too general of a term, in comparison to tropical bird food.

In the past, I tried variations of this, in hopes that Yoga enthusiasts would easily be interested in natural or organic food products. It didn’t work; and in this case, you would need, at least two sites, for separate fields. On top of this, your keywords should be geared toward one precise niche for maximum results.

Promote a product that excites you and that you know something about. If you are excited about the money, then take the time to understand what the product you are endorsing does. How does it work? What are the benefits? How does it solve your visitor’s problems? You don’t have to sell, but your information should spark your reader’s interest.

Chasing the “Next big thing” is very common, but very often - it is a waste of time. The newest, and the greatest, Internet and affiliate marketing, ideas require us to stay current, but stay focused on your purpose, niche, and conversion rates.

The Truth About Becoming An Affiliate Marketer

By Liz Tomey

Becoming an affiliate marketer means you're not working for anyone but yourself. Yes, you are promoting other people's products and/or services, but you're still working for yourself. You must have self discipline when it comes to working for yourself. I know many times during the warm months I have a hard time sitting down at my desk to work. I'd much rather be vacationing or outside enjoying the weather, but because I have self discipline I am able to focus and keep working. This may be the hardest part of affiliate marketing, but it's very important. If you can't make yourself focus on what you're supposed to be doing, you'll never get anything done.

All of things things are just part of what it takes to become a successful affiliate marketer. There are a ton of resources online teaching about affiliate marketing, but they never cover the mindset part of it. All of these things are just as important as the tools you use and the strategies and techniques that you put into place with your business. Without the right mindset, nothing else will fall into place, and you'll find yourself unsuccessful as an affiliate marketer.

So, before going any further in your affiliate marketing career, make sure to read this article one more time. It could save you a lot of stress and heartache on your journey to being a successful affiliate marketer.

More Best Selling Affiliate Marketing Tips

By Paul Jerard

“Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket,” is a useful piece of advice for any affiliate. You should have “multiple streams of income” on your site. Don’t count on one affiliate program for your income, but don’t spread yourself thin, either.

So, how many affiliate programs are too much to handle? Only you know the answer, but anything beyond six to ten affiliate programs is much like a full time job. I have seen too many people, who fill up all of their time with work, and don’t get paid enough for it. You have to put a value on what your time is worth, allow for “play time,” and enjoy your family.

Also, be aware that some of the major retail companies periodically leave Link Share, Commission Junction, or one of the big affiliate managers. The problem with this is all of the links that you have taken the time to build into your websites, forums, or Blogs. When a retailer quits working with the manager, this leaves all of their former affiliates, “out in the cold,” with many back links back to the retailer.

Sometimes affiliate managers, of the big retailers, fire low-producing affiliates. If you are not producing affiliate sales - they give you a trial period to produce results. Many of the big retailers are only looking for super affiliates, with multiple web sites, Blogs, and a strong, but ethical, Email marketing program.

Usually, they don’t inform you of this policy, which hurts new upstart affiliates. You put in all the work of creating back links to a retailer, who fires you in 30 days.

Therefore, do the research on the affiliate program. If you ask them, they might come clean. Many of the “Mom and Pop” small business affiliate programs are easily accessible, won’t fire you, and will do their best to give you the tools to get started in the affiliate marketing business.

Here are some questions to consider when choosing affiliate programs to join. Does the affiliate program provide you with any content for your sites and Ezines? Can you get answers by Email or phone? Does the affiliate program have a Blog or a forum? Unless, you are an experienced super affiliate, you will need some kind of support. This is why you should take your time, when choosing the right affiliate program for you.

Lastly, some affiliate programs will tell you that banner links are, “The greatest thing since sliced bread.” Beware of putting up too many banner links. Use banners to break up your text, but don’t count on them for commissions.

My reason is: When was the last time you clicked on a banner? Most of us haven’t clicked on a banner in the last 10 years. In fact, the conversion rates of banners are extremely poor. You can count on your text links to produce far better conversion rates and more affiliate commissions for you.

Best Selling Affiliate Marketing Tips

By Paul Jerard

Maybe the whole concept of affiliate marketing just sounds too good to be true, but some people are making a good living at affiliate marketing.

If you are building an Internet affiliate business, it captures your interest to hear about the successful “Super Affiliates.” Here’s how to develop your own successful affiliate marketing business from scratch.

Anyone who says you don’t need a website or Blog to be a successful affiliate is just not telling you the full story. You need a place to capture contact information. On many websites and Blogs, you see submission boxes; these boxes are also called “opt-in boxes.”

Every successful Internet or Affiliate marketer, on the web, has these boxes. They offer something related to your site, such as: Free reports, e-Books, MP3’s, services, or a related product, in exchange for contact information.

Usually, opt-in boxes ask for a first name and Email address. When newsletters are produced, they must be full of useful information, but you should place your affiliate links, within the text of your newsletter, where they will produce affiliate commissions for you.

This is the foundation of your future Email marketing program. Without this foundation you are constantly searching for new traffic that zips in and out of your Blog or website, and might not ever come back again. A useful newsletter, related to your niche, will keep your members coming back for more. Below is a plan to bring your affiliate marketing efforts toward success.

Build a Blog or Website, and fill it with keywords that draw in targeted traffic toward your specific landing pages. Word Tracker is the most valuable keyword tool on the Internet. If you want to use something free, try the Google AdWords keyword tool, but here’s a gentle reminder - You do get what you pay for.

Your pages should be related, in subject matter, toward your specific niche. For Example: Dog food and real estate should not be sharing the same Blog or website.
Some people think they can just optimize their site by changing a few Meta tags, but you must also optimize your site title, header, footer, page descriptions, alt tags, and all of your content. In fact, your content is an extremely valuable asset.

Any kind of valuable content initially draws the search engines to your site and then targeted traffic will be soon to follow. “Unique content” is even more valuable. Here’s why: If you can get original content, which is written by you, or a reputable copywriter; your site will draw attention from search engine “web spiders.” These spiders or bots get your site indexed and ranked.

All of what we have covered so far is basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy. It is wise to pick up a book on SEO and develop your site accordingly. Doing it yourself will be time consuming, rewarding, and inexpensive, but outsourcing a competent SEO expert will not be cheap.

You can also get involved with a pay-per-click program, such as Google AdWords, but I warn you, it’s expensive and Google wants content on your site.

There was a time when some successful affiliates designed sites full of hyperlinks with little or no content. These have become known as “link farms.”

Times have changed and if all you have is a link farm, you may see your price on keywords is five, ten or twenty dollars per click. This basically means: Add keyword rich content or “pay through the nose.”
